Anonymous: not sure if you're interested, but there's a book coming out in june called tash hearts tolstoy, and the main char is asexual (as in, they say it explicitly in the blurb) if you're interested, goodreads is offering a giveaway for it. idk if you'll ever see this or if you would ever want to read the book, but you're the first person i thought of when i saw it. i hope you're doing well.

Anonymous: i'm terribly curious- why do you have such strong feelings about hemingway?

hmm well i’ve never really cared for him in the first place, because his books really emphasize toxic masculinity (e.g. men aren’t allowed to show emotions and should solve their problems through alcoholism). also in a farewell to arms, i’m pretty sure every female character spends half of their time crying. so basically he’s big into the idea that men are supposed to be stoic while women are overly emotional messes.

also, when i was in high school, i had to read some of his books in an english class taught by a teacher i really didn’t like, who kept insisting that hemingay’s portrayal of women wasn’t sexist even though it really was…

and here’s a breathtakingly sexist and ableist quote from a letter from hemingway to his editor:

You can always trade one healthy woman in on another. But start with a sick woman and see where you get. Sick in the head or sick anywhere. But sick anywhere and in a little while they are sick in the head. […] Anyway let’s leave the subject. If you leave a woman, though, you probably ought to shoot her. It would save enough trouble in the end even if they hanged you.

i’m glad you enjoy my fic, but this particular fic has been off ao3 for over two years now and i have no intention of re-uploading it. there might be people with downloaded copies somewhere, but i am no longer giving out access to it.

The tiny girl seems to be the only one on the other team that can actually play.
